Why I Write The Ward on the Street
Please read this first
I started my investment career in 1987, just before Black Monday.
Over the next four decades I worked as a portfolio manager, investment adviser, researcher, and compliance professional, helping clients navigate booms, busts, bubbles, crises, and recoveries.
Along the way, I noticed something.
The biggest challenge for most investors isn’t a lack of information, it’s having too much of it. Every day brings another prediction, another hot take, another reason to feel either euphoric or terrified.
That’s why I write The Ward on the Street.
My goal isn’t to predict where the market will be next week. It’s to provide perspective that helps investors make better long-term decisions. I believe history is one of the best teachers, risk matters more than excitement, and thoughtful investing usually beats emotional reacting.
If these essays help you tune out a little of the noise and think more clearly about your investments, then they’ve done exactly what I hoped they would.
